Making a decision

Two years ago I was sitting in a large meeting room with 100 top managers of our company. Invited guest speaker was the CEO of world´s leading forest industry company. His inspirational speech was deep, personal, touching but kind of sad at the same time.

We all understood the sacrifices he had made to get where he is now, but "was it all worth it"? I don´t know...maybe. One thing was clear though; he loved his job as I loved mine at that time.

He talked about dedication, devotion and passion. Those are the elements that every top leader needs in his job. "If you are not willing to give everything, you´d better find something else to do... Then he used a metaphor that was like prophecy to me;

"If you like sailing, then you perhaps better go sailing"

I promised to myself to do just that!
